Tumblr assignment #9: This is the sign at Boulder Public Library parking lot. A lot of library customers (including me) were confused for their first time here because the text on the green sign is kind of hard to read, comparing to the bigger black sign. So they often end up paying for the parking even if they dont need to.

“This is my very first watch concept. It’s called Mask Watch because of two rotary layers which are masking numbers.”

Tumblr assignment #8: This is a chart of my closet 25 social relationships. The picture in the center point is me. The further the picture is from me, the further our relationship is. The bigger the image size is, the longer we’ve known each other.

“The Secret Garden is a traditional Cape Cod bed & breakfast that has been around for generations, thus it was important to develop a brand that was fresh & contemporary to attract a new generation of guests, but also kept its flair for quaint charm and nostalgia in tact.”

German modernism meets continental minimalism. Fresh with a touch of nostalgia. We dream in Pantone. We write in Helvetica. We create in the space between the new, the now, the next. Type-tweekers, web wunderkinds, branding badasses, mobile maestros. Let’s get in touch.

“Since Germany is the third largest exporter of beer and typography Akzidenz-Grotesk comes from Berlin, I decided to create a beer in honor of one of the greatest and most influential typographies in history. I played with the different types of weights and widths and with the amount of alcohol in each beer. Each variation of typography represents a different level of alcohol. As a result we have five types of beers, light, medium, bold, extra and super.”

My name is João Andrade and i´m a graduated communication designer based on Lisbon, Portugal. One can describe my design work as clear and aesthetic, but as well touching and sensible. My main focus is branding, corporate identity, editorial design, photography, typography and want to take up challenges in new areas.

“Velvet is an agency concept for contemporary music culture. They are trying to present artists who define a constant progress of new trends and styles into electronic music. We wanted to represent it by using a personal geometric font for the logo which is also used as a bird, symbol of the agency, with a fresh green scale background.”

This is a city logo that I designed for Zhuhai(珠海), a beautiful coast city in Guangdong Province, China. I went to college there from 2009 to 2011. The name of the city means Pearl Sea, because it is where the Pearl River flows into the South Sea. For this logo, I decided to approach the geometric simplicity of a wharf. Zhuhai serves as the gateway to Macau and Hongkong, so people can travel from Macau or Hongkong to China Mainland by boat, and make connections at one of several ferry terminals at Zhuhai. Zhuhai also has decent beaches and a group of fishing villages and islands. Since it is one of the cleanest cities in China because of the efforts that locals put into to protect the environment, colors like green and ocean blue are used to represent the vegetation and the sea.
